What an IP can—and cannot—tell you
An address can be syntactically valid and belong to a special-purpose range. A separate, dated allocation or commercial geolocation dataset may associate public addresses with a network, country, or approximate area. Those associations can be stale, indirect, shared, proxied, or mapped to an organization rather than a user.
Use IP geography as a weak routing or analytics signal with fallbacks and user control. Do not treat it as proof of residence, identity, eligibility, fraud, or physical presence.
Read the IP geolocation data guide or use the country-code reference.
